Atelier Mariano Rubinacci
Palazzo Cellamare, Via Chiaia 149E, Napoli - Map
Via Chiaia, San Ferdinando district: on the ground floor of Palazzo Cellammare, an imposing noble palace complete with a Baroque piperno arch and eighteenth-century facade, there is Rubinacci’s atelier. Initially called ‘The London House’ and born with Gennaro Rubinacci’s idea of creating unstructured men’s jackets, unlined and intended to be worn outside the office, the house has become a favourite for style icons such as Vittorio De Sica and Curzio Malaparte. From the high armholes and soft shoulders, to the hand-sewn overlapping buttonholes and the ‘boat’ pocket, today the jackets by Mariano Rubinacci and his son Luca are a symbol of the Neapolitan tailoring tradition.
